Situated near my favourite Jimjilbang (Korean Spa) and the beloved Sushi K, is a little known pizza joint called Hearthstone Pizza. They make custom artisan pizza using a traditional stone oven at 600 Celsius.
What's unique about this pizza place is that you can create your own pizza by picking your dough, sauce, and toppings. And there is no limit to your toppings. Say what?!
For sauces, you can choose from red sauce, white sauce, bbq sauce, and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).
Their endless selection of veggie and meat toppings.
One thing I love about their topping choices is that you can choose from different kinds of cheese. I got the mozzarella and ricotta cheese and they were both marvelous.
Fonzor and I shared a Regular ($8.95) with red sauce, artichokes, mozzarella, ricotta, mushrooms, meatball, italian sausage, and garlic. We actually wanted to get spinach as well but we felt like we chose too many toppings already. :P
Fonzor and I really loved the pizza! The crust wasn't thin nor thick crust which was perfect. It was just enough to give usthat crunchy breadstick in the end without it being greasy or oily.
Since Rae doesn't eat cheese, she got a Small ($6.95) with just barbecue sauce, spinach, chicken, meatball, and red onion.
Her flavour combinations were better because Fonzor and I randomly chose ingredients whereas she tried to replicate the delicious Waikiki Pizza from Coconut Kenny's.
I can't rave about this place enough. I honestly wish it was closer to home because I'd visit them every week for take out. It's affordable, healthy, yummy, and it's always a good thing to support local small businesses. :) The owners Andrew and Frank are also very kind and friendly so go there now and say hi!
