Grain Tasting Bar - Media Launch

I had the pleasure of going to the new Grain Tasting Bar located at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Its wooden accents and modern interior design is elegant and showcases the culinary efforts of Chef Thomas Heinrich perfectly.

This new downtown lounge offers unique drinks, wood fired pizzas, cheese and charcuterie, salads, and tapas.

I had two of these amazing Ginger Pear Martini and they were the bomb. It has a strong alcohol kick when you first sip it but the accents of ginger and fizzy pear quickly follow.

The Shrimp Cocktail were more like prawns because they were so huge. I would love to order a plate of these with a couple of girlfriends before heading out for the night.

Shipped right from New Brunswick, these assorted Raw Oysters were perfectly shucked with no bits of shell at all.

This Bangkok Mule is made with Crown Royal whisky, ginger, yuzu juice, and syrup. This won't be my signature drink but it will be for any ginger fanatics out there.

The Tuna Tartar was served in a cute little tortilla cup which held everything in quite perfectly. The cup was a bit soggy though.

Grain Tasting Bar gets all of their charcuterie from the Oyama Sausage Company on Granville Island. This includes Toscano prosuitto, Okanagan salted and dried Sezmu beef, and duck proscuitto. Truffle honey, candied walnuts, Dijon mustard, and capers elevated the cheese and charcuterie experience.

In addition to the charcuterie, there were also locally produced cheese from BC which paired perfectly with the salty meat.

Last but not least, I ended the night with a Strawberry Mojito. It was refreshing, tart, slighty sweet, and minty despite the absence of fresh mint leaves in my glass.

Grain Tasting Bar is a great place to grab some drinks and appies before a night out on the town. Just make sure you know what you're getting in for because once you have one of their drinks, you won't be able to stop. Not that it happened to me or anything. :P

Happy Eating!!
