Damien's Belgian Waffles- Mmm...Dark Chocolate Waffles

I've been to the Damien's Belgian Waffles in Steveston, Richmond a few times before and have always loved their liege waffles. Last week I visited this place twice because I had a craving... X.X I hate cravings, but when I do get one, I always go out of my way to satisfy it.

The exterior looks very run down and there's actually no storefront sign that says "Damien's Belgian Waffles" except for the little one on the the window.

They sell a variety of liege waffles including Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate (my fav!), Matcha, Maple, Caramel, Cranberry, Banana Chocolate Chip...etc and they are all freshly made in-house.

On my first visit here with Meta Knight, we dined in so I got the Creme Brulee to try.

Bad idea. The hardened sugar top was 5mm thick and impossible to break. As well, the 'custard' was incredibly sweet, liquidy, and had no vanilla taste or real vanilla specks. I was immensly disappointed with this choice. :( Next time, I am so sticking with my usual waffles to go.

Next, we shared a Matcha Truffle which contained a matcha waffle laying on top of a pool of liquid milk chocolate, decorated with white and dark chocolate decorations. This was very indulgent and tasty but a bit expensive for what it is.

On my second visit, I just got half a dozen waffles ($12.50) to go.

Here is the Milk Chocolate (left) and Dark Chocolate (right) waffles. I personally thought the milk chocolate was too sweet but it was satisified Rae's sweet tooth just perfectly.

The Matcha (left) flavour was not very prominent but still delicious nonetheless. The Maple (right) waffle is one of my favourites because the sweetness of the real maple syrup really shines through.

The waffle on the left was suppose to be Banana Chocolate Chip, but I was given the wrong one because this turned out to be Blueberry. The Cranberry (right) waffle was definitely the winner out of these two.

  1. Mmm... I love those waffles. But my craving for them has kinda died down. I usually buy a whole bunch and store them in the freezer. It's very convenient as a quick breakfast or snack!
