The Flying Pig- Is It a Bird? Is It a Plane? No, It's a Flying Pig! ~ Eating With Kirby

The Flying Pig- Is It a Bird? Is It a Plane? No, It's a Flying Pig!

For Meta Knight's birthday, we went to The Flying Pig in Yaletown for brunch. We waited about 15 minutes but we didn't mind since we took a stroll around the area and read the menu to pass the time.

We were really intrigued by the sides of crispy hashbrowns, homemade sausage, fried back bacon...etc so we decided to split only one entree and two sides.

They started us off with some warm complimentary Cinnamon Buns! It was such a nice surprise!

The frosting was gooey and the bun was soft. It tasted homemade but I'm not sure if they made this in house or not.

We also ordered the Fruit Smoothie ($5.00) which was made with pineapple, berries, orange juice, and some other fruit I can't recall. I enjoyed this a lot as it was incredibly refreshing and we could really taste the quality ingredients in every sip.

Preview of our brunch!

So we shared the special Daily Benny ($13.00) and it consisted of slow roasted beef short ribs on top of an in-house brioche toast, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. It also comes with a side salad.

We were so happy we chose this because it blew our socks off! First, we didn't expect a mountain of short ribs so we were already happy campers by then. However, when we bit into it, the meat was incredibly tender and full of flavour. The poached eggs were nicely done and the thick brioche toast soaked up all the delicious sauce.

For four bucks, we thought the side of Breakfast Sausage ($4.00) was good, but not really worth it. I would have preferred to have the sausage a bit chewier since it was too soft, but overall it was okay.

The Crispy Hashbrowns ($4.00) are definitely a must get item because they were delicious! These hashbrowns were not only crispy, but they were tossed with parsley and Parmesan. Who could resist that?

The Flying Pig is pretty solid with its offerings and execution of dishes from morning to night. To see my post on their dinner items, click here. However, one thing I'd like to mention is the service. For some reason, our server for this brunch was unfriendly, inattentive, and took forever to get our bill. We enjoyed the taste of our meal but sadly the service from the waiter left a sour taste in our mouth.
