I took a trip to Whistler last week for a few days so I have
a few restaurant experiences that I want to share with you guys!
First up is Quattro at Whistler and it is a fine dining establishment located in the village. They focus primarily on Italian cuisine. The reviews on Urbanspoon were alright so we
decided to come and check out their $29 three course menu that was on promotion.
The entrance was grand and pretty. It made for a great
first impression in my eyes. :P
This is the $29 three
course menu that we ordered off of. As you can see, you can choose from a few options for your appy and main entree.
I love how they seated us next to the fireplace to keep us
warm. :)
The complimentary bread was pretty good despite the multigrain
focaccia being too oily. I didn’t even put any butter on the focaccia because I
could squeeze out oil from the bread. :/
I chose the Baccala
Mantecato which is essentially “churned” salt cod with EVOO (extra virgin
olive oil) on herb crostini. The crostinis were laid on top of a bit of arugula.
The large portion size caught me by surprise because I
thought they would skimp on quantity considering the three course meal is a
promotion. The salt cod was indeed very salty but it tasted better when
balanced with the mild tasting arugula. I quite enjoyed this appetizer. :)
This was the other appetizer option and it’s called Asparagi Bianchi All Cornaro which is
white asparagus in an orange walnut zabaglione. The whole citrus, sweet, and
savoury combination was interesting, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite thing
to eat. It was nice to try something new though. Who knew there was such a thing as white asparagus?!
When I saw they had ‘black risotto’ (Risotto Nero Con Polpo E Gamberetti), I instantly ordered it. I don’t know why but I really heart (<3) my squid ink pastas. :P
Meta Knight said this looked like a pile of poop but I’d
kindly disagree. :P It was very tasty indeed but just a bit on the bland side. If
there was more salt and seasoning, this dish would’ve been fantastic.
This Maiale All’Amarone
Con Cestino Di Fagioli dish basically consists of roasted pork tenderloin,
amarone reduction, cannellini beans, and a parmesan basket.
This looks kind of messy because when the waitress was
setting the plate down, she tilted it and the food completely shifted thus
ruining the presentation.
There was only one option for dessert and that’s Pere Ripiene Al Cioccolato which is
poached pear with chocolate sauce.
The poached pear was very flavourful and it went perfectly
with the caramel and chocolate sauce. To me, this was the highlight of the night and a perfect way to end off our meal. I kind of want one now just thinking
about it...

Ooooo you went to Whistler! I had squid ink pasta for the first time in Venice and it was delish. And the food there was actually quite cheap! I wonder if I'll ever find the motivation to post on my trip.
