Red Robin- Burgers. Burgers. And More Burgers. ~ Eating With Kirby

Red Robin- Burgers. Burgers. And More Burgers.

This post on Red Robin consists of two different visits. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always liked Red Robin because of their giant burgers, casual atmosphere, and refillable freckled lemonade. It is a pretty cool place to hang and chill, except when there is a Canucks game on because we learned that they sometimes don’t play them on their screens!

As always, the bottomless Freckled Lemonade ($4.99) will be ordered and shared (shh!). Deliciously sour and sweet at the same time...you can’t go wrong with this choice!

Their Towering Onion Rings is another Red Robins signature item so our table ordered this to share.

I saw their promotion of the Oktoberfest Burger (~$10) and thought it looked absolutely mouth watering!! However, it only looks like that because of food stylists (not that it's a bad thing). I usually find burgers deceiving when it comes to advertising so read on...and you will see what I’m talkin’ about. :P

This was Meta Knight’s order and he substituted the steak fries with yam fries (+$1.50). Their yam fries are absolutely delish! Definitely worth the extra cost.

See! What a difference in the actual product! :P It doesn’t really bother me (even though I notice it a lot) but I can see how one might feel a bit deceived after ordering this lol.

Anyways, Meta Knight really liked the pretzel bun and the large quantity of meat in the burger so it’s a thumbs up for him.

Just to let you guys know, the yam fries are also bottomless! And yes, we asked for more even though we were both stuffed. X.X

I opted for the seemingly healthier alternative, the Honey Mustard Chicken Burger that was also on their promotional “cube thingy”.

The burger consisted of a chicken breast, cheddar cheese, guacamole, red onion, shredded lettuce, tomato, mayo and honey mustard sauce. It came with regular steak fries so I asked for a special dip (no charge).

The dip I got is actually a salad dressing called ‘honey mustard poppyseed’. Or something along those lines. I love this dip because it's great for fries. :D

Again, the burger didn't look much like the picture at all but it's to be expected. Taste-wise, the chicken breast was incredibly tender and the whole burger tasted very healthy yet filling.

However, this didn’t stand out on the Red Robins burger list so I’m not sure if I would order this again.

The Grilled Turkey Burger was a little bit of a disappointment because I compared it to the turkey burger I had at Hard Rock Cafe in Vegas and it was a world of difference. My standards went way up ever since then so I’m sorry, this one didn’t cut it.

I substituted the regular sesame bun for a multigrain bun and it was quite good. The turkey patty however was thin and not very juicy at all.

I didn’t try the Blackened Chicken Burger but Piggley, from Piggy See Piggy Do said it was pretty good.

The Whiskey River BBQ Chicken Burger always seems to be a hit with its onion straws and smokey bbq sauce, and this time was no different.

If you come to Red Robins on your birthday, you get a complementary sundae (filled half with whipped cream lol) and a lovely birthday song sung by all the servers. :D

Based on these reasons:
  • comfortable and cozy place to chill
  • burgers are inexpensive and are quite good compared to some other places
  • freckled lemonade is a must!
  • You can customize your own burger (change the bun, toppings...etc)

  1. Most of Red Robin burgers are over 1000 calories (specially after cheese and sauces). In a way, if were to eat out, specially in places like these, the health factor does not really apply! ;) (Not to mention when you go for bottomless fries/yam fries and sugar ladden drinks!)

Let's face it, you don't go to Red Robbin, BP, or White Spot for an extraordinary meal. You go there because it is a "safe" place where there is something for everybody and people enjoy that. In other words, you go there to hang with people and have a good time with them!

  2. I was just in RR downtown for my birthday burger yesterday. I ordered the Oktoberfest burger. I was also disappointed with the burger. But then again, can't complain because its free. LOL.

I still have Boston Pizza pasta and Vera's burger birthday coupons to use up before the end of the month.

I absolutely agree with you in that the food is bound to be quite calorie filled (which is why I do my best to control it as much as I can without sacrificing taste :P) and you will most likely never be "wowed" by their meal because it is not meant to be "wowed". So actually, my 3/5 rating means RR is pretty good!!

Oh my gosh, happy birthday! You are so prepared with your BP and Vera's burger coupons! So jealous! :P it's ok, next year for me!
